About CareerConnect

CareerConnect is an initiative to meet Challenge One of the Higher Expectations Strategic Plan for workforce development in Racine County. It is a single point of contact for students seeking work-based learning opportunities and the employers who provide them.

CareerConnect serves businesses by standardizing career-related learning experiences (CRLE) and managing requests from schools to participate in various types of CRLE - job shadowing, internships, co-ops, guest speakers, company tours and more. At the same time, students will benefit from the increased availability of CRLE as they strive to be more career or college ready. As a whole, Racine County will gain employers that invest in the future workforce and a growing talent pool from which they can hire.

Inspire Wisconsin helps students and career seekers achieve their career goals by bridging the gap between school and the world of work. With nearly 300 middle and high schools using the Inspire Wisconsin program that reaches over 120,000+ students, you can make a lasting impact on your child in discovering their future career path.

As a parent you can be part of Inspire Wisconsin in two ways:

  • Getting involved in your child’s career development by helping them use the tools available at CareerCruising.com (Student Quick Start Guide).
  • Sign up to be volunteer in Inspire Wisconsin’s online community and directly make an impact by:
    • Promoting careers that are available in Wisconsin and help students realize that there are many opportunities in your community
    • Nurturing the future workforce by connecting with them early in their career development
    • Help students find relevance in what they are learning in school with the world of work.
    • Bridge the skills gap of students coming out of high school by communicating what the real world needs. (eg. soft skills)
    • Help build Wisconsin into a workforce strong and economically vibrant state Positively affect and directly address the Wisconsin’s Drop-out and Graduation rates

Inspire Wisconsin is a non-profit organization who’s goal is to help students and career seekers achieve their career goals by bridging the gap between school and the world of work. With nearly 300 middle and high school locations using the Inspire Wisconsin program that reaches over 120,000+ users, our team aspires to make a lasting impact on students and career seekers trying to discover their future career path. Participating in Inspire Wisconsin is a win-win for all!

Educators can:

  • Link school activities to local opportunities and organizations
  • Identify companies that offer the employment or career development programs their students need

Challenge One - Raising Standards for Public Education

In May 2008 the Racine County Workforce Development Board adopted the Higher Expectations strategic plan to develop the Racine county workforce to better meet the needs of employers.  The plan is comprised of six challenges.  Challenge One is to raise the standards and expectations for public education.  The Workforce Development Center convened the following roster of educators, political leaders, employers and others to assist in meeting this challenge.  Read the plan and its progress reports.
