Industrial Machine Repair Boot Camp

This training is a partnership with the Racine County Workforce Development Center and Gateway Technical College, designed to meet the needs of employers within the region. The Industrial Machine Repair Bootcamp is an intensive 20 week training program and is designed for participants to gain the necessary skills to qualify for an entry level Industrial Machine Mechanic position. 

Industrial Machinery Mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and repair of machines used in the manufacturing environment. They must be proficient in a wide variety of skills including the operation of machines, working with electricity, knowledge of hydraulics and mechanical power transmission, and effective communication. The Industrial Machine Repair Bootcamp will take place at Gateway Technical College’s SC Johnson iMET Center at 2320 Renaissance Blvd in Sturtevant from June 3, 2013 through October 18, 2013. The hours of training are 7:30am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday.

Application packets for the Industrial Machine Repair Bootcamp are now available or in the Resource Room of the Racine County Workforce Development Center, 1717 Taylor Ave, as well as the Burlington location, 496 McCanna Parkway, Room 119.  Or it may be viewed and printed online as a PDF document.

If you know of anyone interested, please notify them as soon as possible:

  • Applications are now available
  • Last day to pick up an application is May 6, 2013
  • Completed applications are due in the Racine Resource Room no later than 5:00pm on Friday May 10, 2013
  • Applicants must be:
    • At least 18 years old
    • A Racine, Kenosha, or Walworth County Resident
  • Two years of manufacturing experience is preferred, but not required. 

IMPORTANT: The application process consists of multiple steps – all interested applicants should take the time before leaving the Resource Room to read through the entire application packet, front to back, so they are aware of the required steps to be completed as part of the application process.  If you have downloaded the application packet you are advised to visit the Resource Room to ask any and all questions you may have.

There are limited spots available. In order to be a candidate eligible for consideration, it is necessary to pick up the application packet, meet the requirements as detailed in the packet, and have the completed packet turned in on or before the deadline. 

  

CNC Boot Camp

IMPORTANT: This is available for information only at this time. Applications are NO LONGER available for the CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) Bootcamp 16.  Watch this page for information regarding future CNC Bootcamps.

This training is a partnership with the Racine County Workforce Development Center and Gateway Technical College designed to meet the needs of employers within the community. The CNC Bootcamp is an intensive 14 week training program designed for participants to gain the necessary skills to qualify for an entry level CNC Operator position. Of the graduates from the past CNC Bootcamps, 95% were employed within weeks of completion with an average hourly wage of $12.75.

Welding-Fabricator Boot Camp

IMPORTANT: This is available for information only at this time.  Check back from time to time for information about future Welding-Fabricator Boot Camps.

Applications are no longer available for the 2nd Welding-Fabricator Boot Camp. This training is a partnership with the Racine County Workforce Development Center and Gateway Technical College and is designed to meet the needs of employers within the region. The Welding-Fabricator Bootcamp is an intensive 15 week training program designed for participants to gain the necessary skills to qualify for an entry level Welder-Fabricator position.

The Welding-Fabricator Bootcamp will take place on the Racine GTC Campus from March 4, 2013 through June 7, 2013. The hours of training are 7:30am – 4:00pm Monday through Friday.

Application packets for the Welding-Fabricator Bootcamp are now available in the Resource Room, Racine County Workforce Development Center, 1717 Taylor Ave, as well as the Burlington location, 496 McCanna Parkway, Room 119.  Or the packet can be downloaded now.

Apprenticeships

You can actually make money while you are learning a trade or occupation with the Wisconsin Registered Apprenticeship Program. Apprenticeships combine on-the-job training with classroom instruction. Plus, the Apprentice will be getting the technical back-up necessary for a complete understanding of their chosen field. Just a few hours a week at your local technical college pays off big at the workplace where you can use your knowledge in a practical application.
