 Minimize

The youth at this worksite put downspout extensions on over 100 homes, a total of over 400 downspout extensions.  They catalogued all homes at which they performed these extensions.  They had to do an inventory of the homes that did not have the extensions, and they learned why the extensions were good for the community as a whole.  The extensions reduce loading on the sewer systems, and decrease potential damage to the foundation of the homes.  They also learned that downspouts need to be directed toward green areas and areas that could collect water and drain it into the aquifers.
